Sophia Jesenia Gonzalez is a New York-based content creator whose work spans the fashion, media and retail industries.
Gonzalez began her editorial career as a Fulbright scholar, penning a monthly column for her hometown newspaper that chronicled her discoveries and musings while living in France. Since then, she has written fashion news and runway reviews from New York and London for a host of international publishers such as Conde Nast, Hearst, and The New York Times Company; produced e-commerce content for Hugo Boss and Michael Kors; and taken the editorial lead in conceptualizing seasonal campaigns for Ralph Lauren, a position she has held since 2014.
As a writer, she imbues her work with a deep knowledge and love of fashion design, history, textiles, art and photography. A polyglot with an unerring aesthetic eye, these combined strengths drew the attention of Yoox Net-a-Porter Group, a retailer that enlisted Gonzalez for everything from copywriting to creative direction, styling and merchandising.
Her creative approach—no matter the platform—is to identify the narrative behind the idea, imagery, or collection she has been briefed or commissioned to write. Research and organization comes next, followed by consistent and compelling storytelling across all channels. By working closely with creative directors, art directors, marketing managers, and publicists, Gonzalez maximizes the potential for a memorable content experience.
In addition to her work, she holds a MA Fashion degree in journalism from London’s Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design. A proponent of emerging design talent, she is fascinated by those who seek to redefine, reclaim, and rethink fashion.
